A good writer is one, who can pick aspects and experiences from one’s life, weave them with what one has read and heard of, to build a story with a soul.
You may think the kids are too young, to be thinking of these things, but it is best to catch them young, and help them weave stories out of their imagination, with subtle knowledge of things around them. A good blend or reality and magic, is what the children need.
Our classes are all about giving them a stimulus. From showing them the origin of the Earth, to asking them to read about some sports players and then tell them inspiring stories about them, to asking them to build stories with finger puppets, and building a campaign to save trees, we covered a lot and had a lot of fun. The result was our first batch had children write about finding aliens, living with robots, life being a chess board, discovering mermaids, and other beautiful things, as their final stories.
We did work on their grammar, but we gave them the power to question, to be curious, and empathetic.
You will soon find all writeups on The Young Chronicle App, soon.
These are offered Pan India, from 4 weeks to 6 months. In these workshops, each child is assigned a mentor, from our network of mothers. They coach each child one-on-one, to get them to a level where the child starts enjoying what he is writing about. This coaching happens via phone and email, and preferably in the presence of a parent.
The teacher offers the child, articles to read, to help develop the reading habit, and then helps him/her come out with the perfect draft.
Starts on 3rd June
Cost: Rs. 1000 for 3 weeks (Weekdays).
If you are going on vacation in between, it is possible to resume mentorship after that.
